Jody's Dining Hall & Bar Car

Updated: Jan 6

Jody Faison original Nashville foodie

We’re wrapping up our series with original Nashville foodie, Jody Faison, and rubbing our tummies in anticipation for the next taste of his storytelling in his forthcoming book.

Previous posts tell stories from some of Jody’s iconic nostalgic Nashville restaurants and watering holes including Faison’s, 12th and Porter, The Iguana, Pub of Love and Café 123.

This week we’ll hear about Jody’s Dining Hall & Bar Car.

7695: Tell us about the next place you opened, Jody.

Jody: The next place I opened at the urging of my friend Jules was called Jules Dining Hall and Bar Car, and it was health food.

But it was more upscale health food, we had a really good lunch business, and a great dinner business. And then we had the little bar car behind there with pool tables and stuff, and did shows. Johny Jackson’s Soul Satisfaction ended up settling there for a long time.

We had a good time. Eventually Jules moved on and it became Jody’s Dining Hall and Bar Car.

I think there’s still a music club there, but I’m not sure.

The 7695 invites you to join us in a celebration of nostalgic Nashville with special guest Jody “King Faison.”
